Smart Lunch- Smart Kid Project

Almost 1 million children in Georgia are eligible to receive free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch. This crucial meal disappears in the summer and during school breaks. Smart Lunch, Smart Kid steps into this gap and provides nutritious meals for numerous children across the State. Most of these children only have lunch during normal school sessions.

ASC purchased and prepared lunch bags for the children consisting of sandwiches, chips, fruit and water. After preparation, we delivered the lunches to the West End library to distribute to the children.

S.T.A.R.S. (Singers Taking Action Reaching Souls)

ASC donates to the S.T.A.R.S Annual fundraising Bowlathon. We also assisted with housing, transportation and meals for the South African Youth Choir affiliated with S.T.A.R.S while they were visiting Atlanta, Georgia.

House of Dawn

Their Mission is to 1) provide a stable, loving, home for young mothers and their children under adult supervision and 2) to
provide young mothers with the educational opportunities and the life training skills that they will need to become independent, self-supporting women.
ASC provided clothing, sheets, blankets, pillows and household items to support the women residents. We also sent a crew to House of Dawn to clean the kitchen until it literally sparkled from our efforts and love.

StandUp For Kids – Atlanta: has been consistently on the streets of Atlanta since 2003 serving homeless and at-risk youth. They also work with students in Fulton, Gwinnett and Hall county schools that are experiencing a change in their home setting. Often, but not always these students have lost parents, are living with someone other than a legal guardian or are experiencing homelessness with their family or as an unaccompanied youth.
StandUp For Kids – Atlanta provides programming which addresses the challenges facing youth on the streets and in the schools through volunteer-based outreach and mentoring. Their community-supported programming helps the youth make informed choices during challenging times.

ASC gathered bags and bags of clothing from our members and provided these items to Stand Up For Kids. We also assisted in the sorting and distribution of clothing at various times. ASC also bought socks, provided the youth with gift cards to restaurants like Chick Fil-A, and bus passes for transportation.

Project Gift

was started in 2009 with the mission of creating a program connecting the joy of giving through individual endeavor and achievement. In partnership with inner-city Atlanta public schools, the program was designed to award daily achievement points based on attendance, good citizenship, academic achievement and personal conduct. These points are redeemed at a one-day holiday shop in December, stocked and staffed by Project Gift volunteers. An important aspect of Project Gift is that all the gifts purchased by the children are for their family members, not for themselves. The program, which was initiated for 50 preschool students, has now grown to accommodate over 950 elementary school students at the Fred A. Toomer and Hope-Hill Elementary Schools in Atlanta, GA.

ASC contributed to Project Gift by helping the students to shop and select gifts for their family members. Their earned points allow them to shop for their family i.e. parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts and uncles, etc. This is such a rewarding endeavor as the children are inspired to earn points through good behavior and academics throughout the school year.

SLCA (Spiritual Living Center of Atlanta)

Is an extremely diverse community whose teachings are based on Mind, Body, Spirit connection. We each are an irreplaceable and nterconnected part of the whole. What affects one, affects all. Divinity dwells within each person and life’s constant invitation is to recognize and embody this. The highest spiritual principle is love – love of self, love of others, love of all. Our thoughts and beliefs are carried forward into manifestation. How we choose to think becomes our personal experience.
ASC went Christmas shopping for a group of children SLCA was supporting. These donations included toys, clothing, and bikes for our assigned group of children. It was a lot of fun for us and the children by rewarding their efforts by providing them with joy on Christmas morning.
